‘Broken Beauty’ is a project which takes plates in the classical tradition., whereby the classic designs are broken up then recomposed, thereby finding a new harmony in the layout of these fragments. This is project which pays homage to classic beauty, inspired by the recomposition of antique ceramics found in archeological museums. In particular the Topkapi Museum in Istanbul where I found a small collection of antique Iznik ceramics fragments of the sixteenth century which have been recomposed in such a manner.
